About this program

Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for a cause on this 12-day adventure expedition with a big heart. Join like-minded travelers as you explore Tanzania, give back to the community, and embark on a once-in-a-lifetime trek of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

You will head to the East Meru Community School for a life-changing experience. Participate in an art or music class, join a lunchtime soccer game or a cleanup day at a local community school. 

After school, you’ll visit the home of an Adventure Out Loud sponsor student. You’ll get the incredible opportunity to learn about Tanzanian culture, the Swahili language, and the impact you are making by travelling with a tourism provider that chooses to operate responsibly. 

The last week of your adventure will include a jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring trek of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This is sure to be an adventure you will never forget!

Itinerary

Day 1| Arrive Kilimanjaro (Tanzania)

Adventure Out Loud to meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Introduction dinner and drinks with the group.

Additional activities available upon request for early arrivers.

Day 2| Visit the East Meru Community School

Today you will head to the East Meru Community School for a life-changing experience. You'll participate in an art or music class, join a lunch time soccer game, or a cleanup day at a local community school. 

After school, you'll visit the home of an Adventure Out Loud sponsor student. You'll get the incredible opportunity to learn about Tanzanian culture, the Swahili language, and the impact you are making by travelling with a tourism provider that chooses to operate responsibly. 

Day 3| Kilimanjaro Prep Day

Take today to rest and prepare for your upcoming adventure. Choose to explore town or rent any additional equipment or clothing you may need. 

Days 4-10 | Mt. Kilimanjaro

The next week you will embark on your Mt. Kilimanjaro experience. You will be challenged at the Roof of Africa and will see how far you can push yourself both physically and mentally. You'll explore the breathtaking landscapes, make new friends from around the world, and also enjoy standing at the summit of the World's Highest Free Standing Mountain.

You'll be taking the Lemosho Route and will camp for 7 nights. The starting altitude is 1800 metres, and you'll reach the summit at 5895 metres. Expect temperatures to change between 5 and 25 degrees Celsius, decreasing as you ascend. The night temperatures are typically between 0 and -5 degrees Celsius, but can drop as low as -20.

Day 11 | Choose your own adventure

After breakfast you'll begin your own adventure. Choose from exploring the town of Moshi, going to a coffee plantation, visiting a waterfall, horseback riding, or whatever you may desire!

Tonight you'll celebrate your successful summit with your new friends and the unforgettable adventure you embarked on. 

Day 12 | End of Tour

You'll start your journey home from the Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. Transfers will be arranged by Adventure Out Loud in accordance with your flight itinerary.
