Adrenaline Junkies, Sports Enthusiasts, Active Adventurers, here is the Extreme Sports package you’ve been waiting for! This 7-day adventure packs in so many adventures, you’ll want to tack on a couple of extra days just to chill out!

Starting off your exciting itinerary, you’ll have a day to explore the area, meet other travelers, and do a few stretches before the action begins. Enjoy a traditional South African BBQ tonight and visit the local bars and pubs to unwind. 

The next two days you’ll spend learning the ins and outs of kitesurfing from a qualified instructor, at the famous Kite Beach. Here, along with a steady supply of waves and wind, you’ll learn about kiteboard safety, equipment, setup, wind, waves, and techniques. By the end of these days, you’ll feel confident to use your new skills in destinations around the world! 

Your journey continues to Table Mountain where you’ll embark on an adrenaline-filled rappel down 112m of the world’s highest abseil! Later, test your sandboarding skills with a ride down the sand dunes of Atlantis. After, take a dip in the ocean and hit the waves with some surf lessons. If there are not enough participants, your surf trip will be substituted with an exciting Quad Tour. 

Now, it’s time to hit the West Coast and the skies with a skydiving adventure! You’ll soar high above Cape Town, False Bay, Robben Island and stunning Langebaan Lagoon. Once you touch the land again, take some time to relax in a jacuzzi or hang in the hammocks sharing your experiences with other travelers. 

 

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Orientation

Welcome to Cape Town! You'll be met at the airport and taken to the SaltyCrax Backpackers. 

You will have the day to relax or walk around the area to the white sand beaches with amazing views of Table Mountain or to the many shops, bars, and restaurants just within short walking distance. If you would like to book an activity for the day just speak to our friendly staff at the activity desk. In the evening, we meet at the hostel for a traditional South African BBQ called a braai.


After a good meal, we roll down to the local bars and pubs where you can spend the rest of the night at leisure. 

Day 2: Kitesurfing Lessons at Kite Beach

After helping yourself to breakfast, a qualified kitesurfing instructor will meet you at the hostel. He will take you to the infamous Kite Beach where Table Mountain is your backdrop and you'll have a consistent supply of wind and waves. 

Your first day of lessons will begin with:

  • Lesson 1: Introduction to Kite boarding.
    Includes safety, equipment setup, understanding the wind and land based flying.
  • Lesson 2: Water introduction
    Includes large kite handling, self-launch and body dragging through the water.

Day 3: Kitesurfing Lessons

Today you complete your kitesurfing course. Your final day of lessons include:

  • Lesson 3: Water Skills
    Includes advanced body dragging, water re-launch and basic board skills.
  • Lesson 4: Board Basics
    Includes first water starts on a board and the first ride.
  • Lesson 5: Supervised Riding and Tips
    Includes riding with power, change of direction and holding an edge.

You will now be an IKO accredited kitesurfer and will receive a certificate and card allowing you to kite anywhere in the world!

Day 4: Rappel Down Table Mountain

Rappel Table Mountain! Go down 112m down the world’s highest commercial abseil. Enjoy a stunning view of Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean at 1000m.

 

Day 5: Sand Boarding in Atlantis

Get an early start today. After breakfast, you'll be going to Atlantis, passing the Melkbos beach along the way. Here you'll meet your sand boarding instructor who will show you how to ride down the dunes.

Later, you'll hit the beach for lunch and to wash the sand off with surf lessons. A minimum number of participants is required. If the minimum requirement is not met, it will be substituted with a Quad Tour or similar activities.

 

Day 6: Skydiving

We take a 20-minute drive up the West coast to the skydiving drop zone. Your tandem skydiving instructor will give you a briefing before boarding the plane. The view on the flight is breathtaking. Cape Town lies to the south, False Bay is further south, Robben Island is to the west and the Langebaan Lagoon is to the north.

We end the tour at Saltycrax where you can relax in the hammocks or the Jacuzzi and share your adventure with fellow travelers.

Day 7: Free Day & Departure

Today you can use to explore the beaches & restaurants which are a 5-minute walk from your accommodation or have a relaxing day at the backpackers sorting out all your awesome pictures you took during your visit to the Mother City.
