About this program

Spend 6 amazing days discovering the Sikkim state of India, also known as India’s Mountain Kingdom. Sikkim is a stunning mosaic of different cultures, that beautifully complement each other. 

You’ll start your journey in Payong Village where you will enjoy a homestay experience. After you meet your hosts, you’ll spend a relaxed evening getting to know them and the others on your trip. Enjoy delicious local cuisine, tasting the rich flavours of the region. 

Along the way, you will have the wonderful experience of a traditional shamanic healing ritual, as well as visits to Buddhist monasteries and gorgeous parks. Each day is full of excitement and new experiences, as you start to understand the culture of each village you visit. 

Over the week you will stay in village homestays, meeting families, and seeing the sites. Take part in evening games and activities, creating memories for years to come. 

This trip has an optional 3-day extension where you’ll have an opportunity to visit Gangtok, a handicraft emporium, organic market, and a wildlife sanctuary. There is no trip like this that will give you more in-depth cultural immersion. Dive in!

Itinerary

Day 1

Pick up from Bagdogra Airport at 12:30pm. Transfer to Payong Village homestay with lunch en-route. Meet your hosts and enjoy a relaxing evening getting to know them and the other guests of the tour. 

Day 2

Enjoy a morning orientation session. 

This afternoon take a village tour followed by a village shamanic healing ritual in the evening. 

Day 3

Trek to Lingi Village to see a Buddhist monastery and Mahadev Cave. Later this evening take part in local games and activities. 

Day 4

Learn to prepare mouth-watering local dishes. In the evening, indulge in a group dinner and later match steps taking part in cultural folk dance and music performances. 

Day 5

Visit Buddha Park in Ravangla, en-route take a walk in the tea garden. 

Stay tonight in a homestay in Ravangla.

Day 6

Depart today or take an optional extension

Day 7 (Optional Extension)

Head to Gangtok and stay with a local family in a modest homestay. 

Day 8 (Optional Extension)

Visit an Organic market and Handicraft emporium in Gangtok. Or, visit  Fambong La Wildlife Sanctuary and Rumtek monastery.

Departure.
