About this program

This trip to the Northeast of India is a cultural delight! The expertly crafted itinerary visits three villages in the Assam state, as well as numerous historic sites. Prepare to be introduced to distinct villages and exciting activities on this unique India culture tour. 

Assam has a history of being a settling ground for a great many of civilizations that passed through. It is connected to many other states of India, as well as other countries. Some of these settlers include Negritos, Dravidians, Tibeto Burmese, Aryans, and Alpines. The Bodo and Mishing tribes remain the largest population in Assam and are of Tibeto Burmese origins. 

Throughout your cultural tour, you’ll have the pleasure of staying in hut-style Assamese homestays, taste the local cuisines, appreciate the art & culture alongside friendly villagers. Learn how to extract “falap” a traditional tea essence and about weaving traditions of the region. 

Along the way, visit Buddhist monasteries, wildlife parks, and so much more!

Itinerary

Day 1

Pick up from Dibrugarh and check in at your Tai Phake homestay. Relax and enjoy the local Assamese cuisine. 

Day 2

Explore around the Nam Phake area, get to know the culture and people. Take a tour to Jaipur rainforest. Visit a Buddhist monastery, as well as the adjacent Nockte-Tribe villages. Enjoy Bur Dihing river boating. 

Day 3

Pick up from Nam Phake village & transfer to Singpho village. Meet your warm hosts and spend a relaxing evening getting to know them. Enjoy some time to learn traditional tea preparation methods.

Day 4

Take a tour of a 2nd World War cemetery & ruins. Explore the historic Ledo Road which connects to Myanmar. Stop to visit a Buddhist monastery, coal museum, and oil museum. 

 

Day 5

Check out and say goodbye to your new Assam friends.
